In today’s The Garden Island newspaper in our article, “Say hello to Birdies” we visit Birdie’s Cafe, located at Kukuiolono Golf Course in Kalaheo. We were pleasantly surprised to find really good Eggs Benedict.

In this week’s On the Farm column, we will explore beekeeping courses at Kauai Community College, discover why bees swarm and learn what to do if you get stung. Look for it this Sunday in The Garden Island.

Last week’s On the Farm column,  “Go Bananas,” we visited the family-owned Kikala Farm in Kalaheo and learned about Williams bananas and how the mutant variety became the world’s largest export.

One of our favorite places to eat delicious food and drink high-octaine coffee is Art Cafe Hemingway in Kapaa. We’ll have to wait because they are on a much deserved vacation. Since this is a small family business, that means they had to close until March 2. They are in Europe to collect new ideas for culture and food! I guess we can’t feel too bad for them. Sheraton Kauai Launches “You Dine, We Donate” Charity Program

During the month of October, all food and beverage proceeds from RumFire’s sunset view Table #53 will be donated to benefit the Kauai United Way.

RumFire combines 180-degree oceanfront views and Hawaiian-rooted cuisine with global influences, spearheaded by Executive Chef Roger Liang and his culinary team. Facing the beautifully landscaped Ocean Courtyard and smoldering firepits, Table #53 is prime seating for viewing Kauai’s lovely sunsets.

“We warmly welcome this opportunity to serve our community and invite our RumFire guests to support this worthy Kauai charity,” says Sheraton Kauai General Manager Chip Bahouth. “Through the participation of our diners, our goal is to raise $3,000.” Continue Reading →
