Tasting Kauai

Happy Aloha Friday! We had an exceptional week and hope you did too. Today, get an update on our weight loss progress while learning about healthy dining options on Kauai in our “Working out and eating healthy” article that runs in our “Tastes of Kauai” column in The Garden Island newspaper.  Happy Mother’s Day! If my mom were here, I would certainly raise my glass.

This Sunday, our “On the Farm” column in The Garden Island newspaper covers One Song Farm, kai choy and Lisa’s recipe for Kai Choy Kim Chi. While researching for the article, I learned that kai choy has an amazing amount of nutritional benefits, so check it out!

Kauai Beer Company

Within the next few weeks, Kauai Beer Company will launch Finally Friday. The brewery will be introducing signature cocktails and featuring a limited entree menu. This is the first step in transitioning from a  tasting room to a full service microbrewery and restaurant.

NEWS:

Tasting Kauai

Happy Aloha Friday! We had an exceptional week and hope you did too. Last Sunday, our article “Meat of the operation” ran in The Garden Island newspaper. While touring the facility, we were happy to learn that the cows are 100 percent grass-fed, with no antibiotics or hormones. Last Wednesday, our article “Spring cleaning with juice” ran in The Garden Island newspaper. This is the third cleanse I have done, and I have to say it’s the easiest. Plus, the juice at Kauai Juice Company is extremely delicious. I buy single bottles to drink with dinner. Last night, as I took a sip of  Mintacolada I tried to find one word to describe the flavor. I could taste mint and pineapple but the word that came to me was juicy. Sounds silly, but the flavors are so mouth-watering, balanced and vibrant that juicy is the best description. Readers wonder how we choose restaurants, so I thought I’d share our process with you. I’d also like to take this opportunity to clear up a huge misconception. Many residents tell me that “Kauai doesn’t have good food” or some form of that. One gentleman even told me that Kauai was a culinary wasteland. I completely disagree and I hope I prove that by the end of this post. But first, a little background. Continue Reading →
