Noni fruit is a medicinal food that Polynesians have been using for centuries. In fact, it was so highly prized by the original settlers about 2,000 years ago, they brought it with them when they homesteaded in Hawaii. Writing about Kauai`s farmers every week for MidWeek Kauai, and providing video, text and photos for the Kauai County Farm Bureau‘s Kauai Grown campaign, has us visiting up to three farms every week. The Garden Cafe at Common Ground in Kilauea, is one of my favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch. It’s the only farm to table restaurant on Kauai that literally cooks from farm to table. Right there, just 40 paces from the outside dining area, is a 1600 square-foot garden. The healthy menu is loaded with local and organic fruit, vegetables, grains, as well as island beef, pork and fish. Continue Reading →
