Kapaa Voted One of America’s Prettiest Towns

Forbes Magazine named Kapaa on Kauai’s Royal Coconut Coast as one of America’s prettiest towns. Contributing writer, John Gufflow said, “What we went looking for (were) towns seemingly custom-designed for soaking in the sights, with charming main streets, a variety of activities and beautiful vistas. Whether it’s the fresh air, authenticity or lack of skyscrapers, these enchanting locales deserve a spot on your travel to-do list.” Gufflow explained that Forbes relied on seasoned writers from a variety of national travel publications to come up with the top 15 towns. “To designate America’s most picturesque towns, we called on travel experts from Frommer’s, National Geographic, Fodor’s, and Midwest Living magazines, all of whom shared with us selections of what they consider to be among America’s prettiest towns.” Continue Reading →

Hole in the Mountain Farm‘s juicy, low-acid, sweet and tender Kauai Sugarloaf Pineapple won’t be available from now until mid-September. After that, they’ll have pineapple year-round. The white pineapple are  rare, and I enjoy being able to send a unique gift from Hawaii. So far, I’ve sent one to my folks in Colorado when, during our Saturday morning call, they said they missed Kauai. That pineapple perked their sweet memories right up! My aunt and uncle are celebrating 50-years this weekend, so one is on the way to them. I got lucky because the Huber’s had one left. Now, I must hold out for about three weeks! You can read about them in my article, and visit their website for ordering information. Continue Reading →

Tasting Kauai

Besides Amazon, Tasting Kauai: Restaurants is now available in paperback at The Feral Pig, Orchid Alley Kauai and Namahana Cafe. We’ll be adding more locations this month. Yesterday, I sold all the books I had ordered, placed a new order for double the amount, and was flying high all day. My mood dropped this morning when I got this email from TripAdvisor:

Hello,

To be listed in the Attractions section, tour companies must offer tours on a regularly scheduled basis. Two tours per month does not qualify a company to be listed. The listing will be removed.

Best regards,

Chaz,
